RUAN LANIHORNE OR BUST! - PART 2

Thankfully next morning, the start of the dinghy expedition up to Ruan Lanihorne was not until 12 noon. The tide times were kind to us, giving us recovery time from the night before. The weather had changed to overcast skies.

Despite this, it was a pleasent trip up the river carried by the incoming tide. Seeing a part of Cornwall that few locals, let alone visitors see. Didn't spot any deer in the woods, but plenty of sea-birds and herons and the odd fish jumping.

Here is where the fun started with trying to avoid those with outboards stuck on the bottom, resorting to paddles. In this commotion Ann lost one of her lapis & silver earings
over the side into the mud. A future Treasure Hunt ??

No peace up Nookie Creek today dear with this TBOA lot around !

Well, here we are arriving at the bridge and disturbing the swans. A scrabble up the muddy bank and making sure that dinghies were tethered above high water mark.
A short walk now to the Kings Head for a pint and lunch.

Rumour has it that a former Landlord in years gone by youst to liven up a pint of cider by firing a 12 bore shotgun into it ! (Presumably without the lead shot).
The staff though had never heard of this story. How quickly stories and
anecdotes can be lost. It all adds to the character of places and adds interest for visitors.
